Connoisseurs investigating the great Bordeaux of this group must first grasp the provenance of the wines. Where have they been? What is their upbringing? Under what conditions? Are they worth this kind of money? The Grands Crus Bordeaux offered here are among a small group that are at the absolute peak level of condition and quality of their type in the world. None are of better provenance. This was achieved as follows: 1. Each of the Bordeaux was purchased en primeur (in advance) from the negociants (traders), who are the only authorized source for the wines. 2. When the wines were released from Chateau, they were collected in refrigerated trucks, then loaded into our temperature-controlled containers in France. The sealed containers were shipped directly to a New York port from which they were hauled by truck, still sealed and with the cooling equipment running, to the rear entrance of our cellar. 3. The Bordeaux entered our cellar and have been maintained there since at 55 degrees of unvarying temperature, a sustained humidity of 85%, with no vibration and no light. This is the ideal environment for the maturation of wine. Bordeaux shipped and stored in any other manner, and there is plenty at sale, are less expensive and cannot grow into full perfection. Buy them at peril. Own these and experience the thrill of supremacy. |
